Geumgang Riverside Park is a healing space where locals, as well as visitors from nearby cities and the metropolitan area, gather in April and May to enjoy the beautiful blooming of yuchae flowers. In 2019, local residents and employees of Dongi-myeon Community Welfare Center came up with the idea and began creating the Yuchae Flower Fields. If you sow yuchae seeds around September to October, you will be able to see them bloom into vibrant flowers in the following spring. In the first year of creating the flower fields (2020), over 100,000 people walked along the flower path. It gained significant popularity after being featured on internet social media platforms and TV. The language of yuchae flowers is ‘cheerfulness.’ The area around this park is expansive, with the wide flow of the Geumgang River creating a vast and spacious ambiance. The combination of the Geumgang River and yuchae flowers makes the Dongi-myeon area in Okcheon a delightful, refreshing, and exhilarating spring outing destination that is gaining attention. Since this place offers unobstructed views of clear water, it is also popular as a summer vacation spot where people can enjoy the refreshing river. Geumgang Riverside Park is located near the Geumgang Service Area on the Gyeongbu Expressway. After exiting at Geumgang IC, you can drive along the road that crosses the river for about 4 km to reach the park. Okcheon plans to hold the Yuchae Flower Festival every April along the riverside.
